This is an illustration that was done for my father during the 2020 COVID 19 Pandemic. I had been laid off of work and found myself with time to focus on projects that I hadn't had the time to previously. With the intent of creating something meaningfully personal, the tree that is pictured is actually a photo I took of a maple tree dedicated to my grandpa, with my father's favorite birds; the Cedar Waxwing, and the elusive Baltimore Oriole which he had been trying to attract the feeder for a few years, before finally getting them to come in Spring 2022. This piece was done with a combination of pencil layer, watercolor flat colors, and a Prismacolor Colored Pencil overlay. This was a labor of love, and I hope that it is something viewers will know to love and appreciate as well.
