End of Times III: Precious Time

This is a book cover I did for Bruno Press's End of Times 3: Precious Time. It is a print exchange where printers from around the world each make a print to add to the collection. All the prints included follow the same theme, and the theme for this exchange was "precious time."

With that in mind, I was tasked with creating a cover that matched the tone. I went over the top with symbols of life, death, rebirth and creativity. for the main theme of "precious time" I decided to focus on a child and mother: one in throes of death, while the other is life beginning. As the ideas and inspiration are invoked to render the ideal they die in the creator (the mother) but the new life of that energy lives on in the creation (the child/baby). This is an analogy to how the creations of the printmakers (artists) are precious, and require discipline, focus and - above all else - TIME to complete.

Chank Fonts contributed the typeface for the Title, Headers and Body text of the catalogue. Studio On Fire designed the packaging. And all the paper used by the printmakers was done on Neenah Letterpress Cotton paper.
